Define rule for monitoring
To maintain the rules, you can click the second icon in the toolbar
or go to menu Settings > Rule
In the Rule Maintenance Screen, it lists out all the rules defined. There are three icons to maintain the rules, they are Add, Remove and Edit.
In the following paragraph, we will go through the steps to add/edit a rule and explain the input fields/parameters.
Step 1 - Specify the rule name, the webcam this rule applies to. You also need to specify the event type, Schedule Mode or Motion Detect Mode.
Step 2a - If you choose the Schedule Mode, following screen will show up. You need to specify the time interval for the rule to run.
Step 2b - If you choose the Motion Detect Mode, following screen will show up. You need to specify the threshold for the motion detection. The suggested thershold is 20. Smallest thershold make the webcam be more sensitive to the motion.
Step 3 - Here you need to specify what kind of action will be taken when the event applies. There are six events: Alarm, FTP File Upload, File Save, Email Notification, Post to Builtin Web Server and Snapshot. SnapShot events only provided in "Schedule Mode".
Step 4a - If "Alarm" action is chosen, you need to provide the audio file. CamShot supports following audio formats: Midi, Wav and MP3.
Step 4b - If "FTP Upload" is chosen, you need to provide the ftp host, port number, login username, password, and the destination folder.
Step 4c - If "File Saving" is chosen, you need to specify the folder to store the file. CamShot will use the timestamp as the filename.
Step 4d - If "Email Notification" is chosen, you need to specify the email address sent to, subject, sender address, and smtp host. If your SMTP host requires authenication, you also need to provide the username and password.
Step 4e - If "Post to Builtin Web Server" is chosen, you are no need to specify any parameter.
Step 4f - If "Snapshot" is chosen, you are no need to specify any parameter.
