The desktop shortcut will use the same ChequeSystem icon but will be named after the specific workspace.

Creating a Shortcut for a New Workspace

1. Create a new workspace in ChequeSystem.
2. Name the workspace and specify its folder location. Select the “Create Desktop Shortcut” option.
   
3. Save your workspace. A shortcut icon will automatically appear on your desktop.

Creating a Shortcut for an Existing Workspace

1. Select your workspace and edit it.
2. Click the [Create Desktop Shortcut] button to create the desktop shortcut

The data in ChequeSystem is stored in the workspace folder. Please check to ensure the folder is accessible.

If you accidentally deleted the folder, please try to recover it. If the workspace folder is on a network or shared location, you should also check your connection to ensure you can access the folder.

Install and Sync

Install the ChequeSystem and the cloud storage application (e.g., Dropbox) on both computers. Make sure you have the same version of ChequeSystem on both machines and that the cloud storage application is set up to sync your designated local folder to the cloud.

Setup First Computer

On your first computer (Computer A), create a new, empty folder within your synced cloud storage folder (e.g., C:\Dropbox\ChequeSystem). Then, start ChequeSystem and go to the menu “File > Switch Workspace“.

In the popup list, click the [+] button to create a new workspace, selecting this new folder as the workspace location.

After setting up the workspace, close ChequeSystem on Computer A.

Setup Second Computer

On your second computer (Computer B), wait until the new ChequeSystem folder has fully synced from the cloud to the local drive (e.g., D:\Dropbox\ChequeSystem).

Once the folder is synced, open ChequeSystem on Computer B. Go to the menu “File > Switch Workspace“.

In the popup list, click the [+] button to create a new workspace. Choose “Connect existing workspace” and select the local folder location of your synced cloud storage (e.g., D:\Dropbox\ChequeSystem).

Now, both computers are connected to the same set of data, and the data will be synced via your cloud storage application, as long as you only run ChequeSystem on one computer at a time.

However, you can set the Data Folder (we called it workspace in ChequeSystem) to a network drive/shared folder, so that ChequeSystem from different computers can connect to this location and access the same data.

You need to install ChequeSystem on both computers. Please ensure you’ve install the same version of ChequeSystem on both computers.

Setup in First Computer

In ChequeSystem of First computer, you can set your workspace in menu “File > Switch Workspace” and create a new workspace in a network drive.

You can use a folder in server that both computers can access to. For example, we create a “chequeSystem-data” folder in our server and use \\EVSNAS\chequesystem-data as workspace folder.

Setup in Second Computer

In ChequeSystem of second computer, you also need to create a workspace. You need to first choose “Connect existing workspace” and select the same workspace folder (as in the first computer).

Now, ChequeSystem in two computers point to the same folder in the network drive and they can access to same set of data.

There is one limitation with this approach, ChequeSystem in different computers cannot access the same workspace at the same time. As the database is locked when ChequeSystem is running, ChequeSystem in another computer can only connect the same workspace in READ-ONLY mode.

Workspace can be setup in menu “File > Switch Workspace“.
