Connect and Share Database

Quick Receipt is a standalone software and does not natively support network or multi-user capabilities.

However, it is possible to configure the database to a folder on a local server or shared network drive. This allows multiple installations of Quick Receipt software to access and share the same database folder.

Setup Instructions

On the First Computer:

  1. Go to the menu “File > Switch Database” and click the [+] button to create a new database.
  2. Choose the “Start with an empty database” option.

  3. Click the [Browse] button and select a folder on your local server or shared network location.
  4. Click the [Save] button.

On the Second (and subsequent) Computers:

  1. Go to the menu “File > Switch Database” and click the [+] button to create a new database.
  2. This time, select the option “Connect existing database“.

  3. Click the [Browse] button and navigate to the same folder on the local server or shared network location that you chose for the first computer.
  4. Click the [Save] button.

Now, Quick Receipt software on both computers are connect and share the same database.

Important Note on Simultaneous Access:

Quick Receipt running on different computers cannot simultaneously access and modify the same database. When one instance of Quick Receipt is running, the database is locked. Other instances can connect in a read-only mode but will be unable to make any modifications.
